When using the Applicant Portal, there are rare occasions when you may see an error message that says, 'Sorry - something has gone wrong, please try again'. Once the error appears, it may prevent you from continuing with your application or submitting it. The error might only occur in one section of your application, so please try to complete the other sections if possible.
If you see this error repeatedly, please do the following:
- Take note of the page you were using before the error occurred.
- Take note of the button or link you clicked directly before receiving the error.
- Take a full-page screenshot of the error you received.
You can submit a request via Contact Us to get help from our technical support team to resolve the error.
If this happens to you during the public holiday(s) when the University is closed:
- If you have a fully complete application and you have nominated your references, but the system won't let you submit and this error appears, please email us after the public holiday(s). Please see the advice at the bottom of this article on how to contact us and how to mark your email so that we know you are experiencing this issue.
- If you are part way through completing your application and have not yet nominated and sent requests to your referees, you could try starting a new application for the same course (you can cancel the existing application and start a new one, or you may need to set up a new Applicant Portal account using a different email address).
- If you are part way through completing your application and have sent requests to your referees, email us after the public holiday(s). Please see the advice at the bottom of this article on how to contact us and how to mark your email so that we know you are experiencing this issue. If this is your case, please ensure you have everything you need to finalise your application prepared for the start of January so you can submit it in time for the funding deadline.
Please note that your referees can still submit your references if you have nominated them, even if you are experiencing this issue and your application is not yet submitted. Therefore, even if you are experiencing this error and need to wait for us to return to the office, please ensure your references are submitted as soon as possible and before the funding deadline if you wish to be considered for funding.
