As of Friday 14 October 2022, 3D Secure Version 2 was implemented across all payment systems in the UK. This is a requirement of the Financial Conduct Authority. Since March 2023, card issuers and payment providers have been updating their systems in preparation for this.
In the UK, there is an extra layer of security with text codes and pin sentry required on our cards for payments. It means that cardholders who use our online store and pathways must input the exact billing address and telephone number which is registered with their card issuer. Inputting your College as your billing address will make the payment fail.
We have seen a rise in the number of payments which have failed 3D authentication due to incorrect information entered on our payment platform. Characters like colons, semi-colons, brackets or slashes are also unrecognised. In fact, one should remove any punctuation is possible.
99.9% of payments go through the second time around when the applicant has changed their billing address taking the above into consideration.
