If you are having issues with uploading your photograph to your Self-Service account, please first check that your photograph meets the requirements. The UIS photo specifications offers guidance on our photo acceptance criteria.
The file uploaded must be:
- supplied in either PNG, JPG or HEIC file format
- no smaller than 640 x 480 pixels
- no larger than 12,415,000 pixels in total (multiply width x height to calculate total pixels)
- no larger than 10MB
Your photo must also be:
- in colour with a good colour balance and natural skin tones
- clear and in focus
- taken against a plain light-coloured background
- unaltered by the use of filters
- an original photo – not a photo of another photo
One of the most common issues applicants find when uploading their photo, is that the file is too large. We'd recommend that you try resizing the photo, you can use online photo compressors to do this.
You must upload a good quality, passport-style digital photo that includes only you – no other objects or people, hats, scarves, eyewear, or pets – in line with the guidance; Identity photo specification | IT Help and Support (cam.ac.uk).
Please use the "photograph link" on the homepage of your Self-Service account. Section 3(a) of your A Guide to Using the Postgraduate Applicant Self-Service has detailed instructions on adding your photograph.
Please do not send your photograph to us by email. If you continue to have issues after following the above guidance, then please get in touch with us by submitting a request.
